Policies

Meeting Rooms Policy

 

Library Meeting and Instruction Training rooms are all located in the Central Avenue Building within the Robert W. Van Houten Library. 

Purpose: Library meeting rooms were designed to accommodate meetings of designated NJIT staff, or the business of the senior administrators and officers of the university. They are not for the use of NJIT students as study rooms or for regularly scheduled classes. Meeting rooms are for use only during scheduled library hours.

Exceptions: Designated users always have first priority in the use of library meeting rooms. Only the University Librarian may authorize an exception and tentatively reserve the use of a library meeting room for non-designated purposes but such reservations are not guaranteed.

CAB 1026 Library Staff Meeting Room: Use of the room is restricted to Library and IST staff for the purpose of holding meetings, conducting collaborative work, or for use as temporary extra work space. A reservation is recommended to secure use of the room, which can be booked through the CAB 1026 online reservation LibGuide. A key is needed to unlock the door.

CAB 1026 seats up to 8 people around a large conference table, and includes 1 PC workstation connected to the NJIT network and a wall mounted monitor.

Food is prohibited in CAB 1026.

Project files and other items related to use as a temporary work space should not be stored in CAB 1026.

 

CAB 1050 Information Literacy Training Lab: Priority of use will be for Library Staff and MTSM Faculty as instructional space. Other faculty members may use the room with permission and after being trained to use the equipment. The Information Literacy Training Lab is not to be used for regularly scheduled classes

CAB 1050 Contains 24 PC workstations connected to the NJIT network, 1 teaching workstation linked to the ceiling mounted projector, a drop-down projection screen, and 2 additional wall mounted monitors. The room is accessible to Library Staff and members of Martin Tuchman School of Management (MTSM) via a swipe card reader.

Food is prohibited in CAB 1050.

Prior to use, training will be provided by the Senior Information Technology Librarian of the Van Houten Library. After training is completed, CAB 1050 can be reserved for use. Training requests and room reservations can be scheduled by visiting the CAB 1050: Information Literacy Training Lab LibGuide.

Instructors requesting use of the Information Literacy Training in CAB 1050 should schedule the request with their Subject Liaison Librarian.

 

CAB 2030 Leir Data Observatory: The Leir Data Observatory is intended for use by Library staff, MTSM faculty and graduate students as a meeting room or collaborative work space. Other NJIT organizations may request special permission to use CAB 2030. CAB 2030 is not to be used as a Library Study Room. 

CAB 2030 contains seating for up to 12 people, movable tables, 3 Epson overhead projectors, and wall mounted touchscreens. There is a PC connected to the NJIT network, a wireless keyboard and mouse, and HDMI cables for a laptop to connect to the network.

Prior to use, training will be provided by the Senior Information Technology Librarian of the Van Houten Library. After training is completed, CAB 2030 can be reserved for use.  Training requests and room reservations can be scheduled by visiting the Leir Data Observatory LibGuide

Reservation requests are mediated and will only be approved for Library staff, MTSM faculty and graduate students, and organizations with special permission. The room is accessible by a key that can be obtained at the Circulation Desk. 

Food is prohibited in the Leir Data Observatory.

Equipment should be turned off at the end of each reservation.

Issues with equipment technology in the Leir Data Observatory should be reported to MTSS at 973-596-3005 or mtss@njit.edu.

 

CAB 2032 Library Faculty Commons: This room is intended for use by the University Librarian,  Associate University Librarians, and Library Managers for meetings or gatherings of up to 30 people. Other NJIT professional or student organizations may use the room with special permission.

CAB 2032 contains a large conference table that seats 24, a PC workstation connected to the NJIT network, a ceiling mounted projector, and a drop-down projection screen.
