Off Campus Authentication Options

  • EZProxy (recommended) - It is the easiest and most reliable authentication method to access resources from anywhere and at anytime. No setup required. All you need is your UCID and password to authenticate via EZProxy.
  • VPN (Virtual Private Network) - VPN allows you to securely access resources from off-campus. NJIT supports Cisco's AnyConnect VPN. It allows you to use your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to connect to the NJIT network from off-campus. NOTE: To access the Library's electronic resources, you must select the "Full Tunnel (Library Journals)" VPN option.

Single Sign-On (Shibboleth)

NJIT Library has enabled single sign-on (SSO) access to electronic resources supporting SSO. Visit the subscribed resource, browse, search, or click the "Institutional Sign-In" link. Depending on the setup, you may be able to either sign in with your institutional email address or select your organization name from the list. Follow the instructions to access the subscription.

NOTE: Not all subscribed resources support SSO login. Check with the NJIT Librarian via askthelibrary@njit.edu for more information.

On Campus Access

NJIT provides wireless access to the NJIT network and internet from many locations around campus, including the Van Houten Library. Current students, faculty and staff with a valid UCID may use the wireless network upon authentication.

If you need further assistance, you may call the IST Support Desk at 973-596-2900 or go to the NJIT helpdesk.

Off Campus Access for Visiting Scholars

Visiting scholars are considered NJIT employees. If they are allocated a UCID and NJITDM account they will be able to access “NJITsecure”; otherwise, they can access “NJITguest”. Only those with an NJITDM account may be able to access the Library's electronic resources remotely from off-campus.

Off-Campus Access for Alumni

Licensing restrictions prohibit us from offering off-campus access to guest borrowers, including alumni. Once students graduated from NJIT they can no longer access NJIT's network resources. Alumni are able to retain their email account for life, and have limited access to library's electronic resources from off-campus.
