A new full-tunnel VPN service, libraryvpn.njit.edu, is now available to access the library's electronic resources from off-campus.
Due to security reasons, the NJIT IST Division changed how faculty, students, and staff use VPN authentication to access the library's electronic resources from off-campus. The vpn.njit.edu service no longer works to access library resources from off-campus. If you already use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client, you must update the service name to libraryvpn.njit.edu. Once you have updated the service name, you are set.
If you have not yet installed the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client, follow these simple steps to install the client.
Before starting:
* If you have not installed Cisco AnyConnect VPN, instructions can be found here: https://ist.njit.edu/vpn.
* The first time you connect to a service requiring a VPN, your device's AnyConnect client may automatically be updated. This will often require a reboot. If you do not reboot, your network connection may not work.
How to Connect:
1. Open the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client on your device.
2. When prompted, enter your UCID and password in the Webauth Authentication Service pop-up browser.
3. You will automatically be sent a “Check for a Duo Push” message (this would send a challenge request to your chosen device - e.g. mobile phone).
4. Once you choose your preferred Duo Authentication challenge, respond as you normally would to the challenge. You should now be connected to the VPN to access the library resources. NOTE: If you do not wish to use the "Push" option, you can click the "other options" link within the window and will be given a list of other log in options.
5. You should now be connected to VPN full tunnel safely and security!
For more information about VPN authentication, please refer to the knowledge article on Nexus. If you have any questions or encounter any problems, please contact the library!
