Check out Professional Organizations and Societies for newsletters, blogs, etc. 

As an NJIT student, faculty or staff, you can get free online subscriptions to the The New York Times and Wall Street Journal. Use these sources to see what journalists report on topics in your field.

Opposing Viewpoints, Environmental Studies and Global Issues provide many possibilities for background information: book chapters, magazine articles, encyclopedia and dictionary entries, etc. A great place to focus on the societal or environmental impact of any research project

Research on a topic?

Finding Research will help you identify databases to search for peer-reviewed original research articles in journals.

Procedures, specifications, or qualifications?

Handbooks give all kinds of useful engineering information like formulas, diagrams, introductory chapters -- they're like textbooks for professionals. 

Standards are community-developed requirements or guidelines that engineers use when designing just about anything.
