Hack Van Houten

Timeline

Unless otherwise specified, all Hack Van Houten events and workshops will take place online via Zoom.  If your team has a conflict and cannot attend an event or workshop, please email zm276@njit.edu and the Hack Van Houten mentors will work with you to schedule a make-up session. Workshops are not required, but do provide your team with valuable contest information and earn your team bonus points. Only one member from your team needs to attend the workshop and submit the assignment to earn the bonus point.

Important Dates:

  • Friday, September 12: Information Session
  • Wednesday, September 17: Information Session
  • October 13 - 24: Mid-contest check-in with mentors (schedule 30 min in person or Zoom)
  • Monday, November 10: Draft written proposals due
  • Monday, November 17: Final written proposals due
  • Friday, December 5: Hack Van Houten Showcase (pitches to judges)

  • Winning teams will be profiled on the NJIT Library social media accounts including LinkedIn. These are great resume boosters!
  • Get an opportunity to network with NJIT Faculty and Staff and learn about current research on campus
  • Practice developing and pitching a solution to a real world problem
  • Your Hack Van Houten proposal might serve as the basis of your future capstone, thesis, or patent!
