Many resources, both in print and online, are available to find information on architects. Our guide "How to find information on architects" provides in-depth information on available materials and on how to formulate a proper search strategy. Below are a few selected reference publications that can be used as a source of information on architects and architectural firms. In addition, you can search our online catalog to find more encyclopedias, architectural histories, surveys and bio-bibliographies. To find monographs, search the architect's or firm's name as subject or as a key word.
Articles are oftentimes the best source of information. Read our pages "Articles," "Tutorials" or "Using Databases in Architectural Research" to learn more about how to use databases to find articles for your research. The Avery Index in particular is an excellent resource for finding architecture related journal articles.
Architect's or architectural firm's websites can also provide important information or link to other materials. Video recordings and podcasts can be excellent resources as well, and you can find some of them on our page "Videos & Web Resources."
