Scalar: Adding Media

Adding media

Scalar is particularly good at creating media-rich texts with the ability to annotate specific portions of images, audio, and video. Scalar is also designed to link out to media hosted elsewhere, and supports streaming capabilities for Youtube, Vimeo, the Metropolitan Archive, and other affiliated archives.

Images can be imported as local media files if they are under 2MB.

To import an image file, click the downward arrow icon and select local media files.  Give the file a title and click upload.

From the same dropdown menu, you can also import video.  Click on Internet media files and provide a title, description, and the video's URL.

* When naming files in Scalar, we recommend creating a naming convention.  You will accumulate a lot of material, including annotations and it can become confusing.  If you ever misplace a file, click on the index icon to see all your files (including pages and annotations).
