Enormous collections of images of Paris with various access points (BNF Gallica) A selection of nearly 20,000 iconographic works representing Paris (drawings, posters, photographs) and its evolution since the 16th century, in addition to cartographic, printed and audiovisual resources. The revolutionary destructions and the Paris of the nineteenth century are particularly visible, through collections and fonds (collections Chauvet and Destailleur, work of Atget and Martial Potémont) formed in the archives of the Old Paris. Until the 1930s, press agency photographs reveal, through multiple reports, the daily life as the major events in the history of the city, like the flood of 1910 or the World's Fair of 1937. With nearly 300 sites, buildings and monuments represented, and which will be increased as and when new uploads on Gallica, this walk covers the twenty districts and takes you from the catacombs to the Eiffel Tower, from Montmartre to Montparnasse, in Paris workers, artists or zoners.
