Which genre is for me?Title Examples

It can be difficult to know which genre to select when looking for something new to read.

Go to each genre page to find out more about it and to view the books of that genre available at the  NJIT Library.

Keep in mind that this is just a small sample of the books in each genre, and many books may be categorized in more than one genre.

Make sure to take advantage of Interlibrary Loan; if the NJIT Library does not have a particular book, very often another library will have it and allow us to borrow it from them.

Tips to consider when looking for a new book to read:

  • What kinds of books do you tend to read, or are generally drawn to? Do you like futuristic science fiction, or do you enjoy or a fast-paced thriller?
  • What have you recently read and enjoyed? Think about what you liked-the setting, the plot, the characters, etc.
  • What kinds of books do you avoid? Think about why certain books were not for you, or what you didn't like about them.
  • Why are you looking for a book to read? Are you in the mood to learn something new, finally read that classic novel, or get lost in a mystery?

If you still have questions, you can always chat with a an NJIT Librarian. We can tailor our recommendations to your personal preferences to better help you select that next great page-turner!
