Arch 483: Glass Design and Prototyping

Introduction and Videos

This guide aims to help you learn how to conduct research, introduce you to available materials, and guide you in using and properly acknowledging various sources. The materials for your class are available in different formats, including videos, print and digital books, articles, image collections, and web resources. Many of them are listed in this guide. If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to visit the Littman Library. If you need assistance with writing, you might want to contact the NJIT Writing Center to schedule an appointment.

Part of your class assignments is conducting case studies. A case study is an in-depth and comprehensive investigation of an architectural project, such as a building in your case.  It reveals problem-solving methodologies that designers have already adopted in the past. When researching a specific building, it is essential to discuss its function, structure, and design. You need to learn about the building's purpose, composition, spatial organization, structure, materials, and how they contribute to its purpose, style, and construction detailing, as well as its relationship with the surrounding area and environment, among other factors.

You analyze resources available in various formats, including both texts and images, that can come from a wide range of sources. Below are a few videos. For more information on resources for your research, refer to this guide.
