The NJIT Faculty Library Committee is charged with advising the University Librarian on matters and decisions concerning library services and resources. The University Librarian chairs the Library Faculty Committee. The Faculty Committee is composed of a faculty member nominated by every academic department head, and the professional librarian team. All faculty appointments are for the fiscal year only and may be renewed. The Faculty Committee meets regularly about six times per year, or as needed. The meetings are regularly scheduled during only one class period each year (Thursday from 2:30 pm -3:55 pm) so to insure that there is consistency of attendance at all meetings.
The Faculty Library Committee (FLC) ceased to exist at the end of fiscal year 2013. The Board of Trustees authorized NJIT to adopt a new governance system of "Shared Governance in 2011. The new shared governance system resulted in the formation a new Committee on Information and Technology, Library and Academic Resources (CITLAR)that combines academic resources, library, and technology committees. CITLAR took effect during fiscal year 2014.
CITLAR is charge with "review, discuss, and make recommendations concerning strategies, policies, procedures, and services relating to the academic use of computing, information technology, and libraries; prioritize selection of software, journals, databases, and other resources; review and monitor implementation of the university's information literacy plan."
