History of Architecture: Finding Images in Architecture

This guide has been designed to help students in the School of Art and Design with the study of the History of Architecture

Find Images in Books

The majority of architectural images such as site plans, elevations, floor plans, sections, and details can be found not online but rather in books: encyclopedias, atlases, dictionaries, histories, catalogues, and monographs. The following are just a few selected titles from the Reference section that can be used in your research. To find more books, search library's online catalog

Finding Images in Print Journals

To locate images in journals search databases, especially Avery Index. You can check your results against a list of journals in the Littman Library which is available at the front desk, or by searching the the  journals locator which will indicate if a particular journal can be found at NJIT and if it is available in digital format. If NJIT does not own a particular title or an issue you might want to consider Document Delivery service.
